Social media provides virtually instant access to information throughout the world, thus giving businesses the ability to share news about their products and services with people that were once out of reach. Social media is easily one of the fastest growing (free) benefits of technology today. Not very long ago, businesses were limited to connections with contacts within their neighborhood or at best, their country. The door is now open to share your business with the world.

This seems to beg the question, “How does that apply to my company? I don’t do business with anyone outside of my state!” Indeed, this may be the current case, but remember, social media opens your business door to the world. To explore how that can work for you, consider your current network of connections, both personal and professional. For instance, your Facebook friends include folks like Cousin Joe, High School Friend Susie, and the business owner down the street. These people, known as social media connections, are your core network. They interact with connections that you don’t necessarily have within your core network.

As the result of your core relationships, other relationship opportunities become available within the various social media platforms of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, FastPitch, et al. Social media offers the ability to meet people online that you may never have the opportunity to meet in person. Who knows whom, and with whom, can you begin a mutually beneficial alliance? Through social media interaction you can not only develop new personal relationships, but also establish valuable business relationships. Social media can be utilized in the same way that face-to-face meetings such as Happy Hour, Sunday Brunch, conferences and conventions, PTA meetings, and Lion’s Club are utilized. Meet new people. Share experiences and expertise. Develop relationships.

Social media offers relationship-building opportunities that are virtually limitless and, for the most part, they’re free. Through the use of social media, your retail establishment, consulting firm, or service company has access to information, prospects and alliances worldwide. Your advertising opportunities can grow exponentially through the utilization of social media.

Reasons to Invest in a Well Designed Website

You may ask yourself the question, “My business is ticking over nicely, why should I pay for a well designed website?”

Your website is open 24/7

A website allows your business to be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There are millions of people, from all over the world, online at any time of the day. Many of them are looking to source products or services. If you run a conventional brick and mortar business, you can only attract the people who walk or drive past your shop, in any one day. Having a website designed for you allows you to attract new customers that would otherwise never find you – and they can do so when your shop is closed! A well designed web site also gives them a reason to revisit the site in the future.

Websites increase customer confidence

A professional, well designed website, with the right content, easy navigation and quickly accessible contact details, greatly increases customer confidence in your company. A well designed website shows people that you are forward thinking and customer focused, much in the way a well designed business card did in the past, which is an important factor in any buying decision that they have to make.

Websites increase customer referrals

What is easier to remember, mysite.com or 01215501528?
A website address is much easier to remember than a telephone number, so it stands to reason that having a website increases the likelihood of referrals – and let’s face it, referrals are one of the most important sources of new business.

A website address increases the ROI when advertising

Including your website address on all of your adverts, business cards, letterheads, invoices, etc allows people to take action straight away, when they view an advert, or hear about your product or service. Visiting your website is so much easier than driving to your store, telephoning or writing a letter to you. When online, a potential customer can take their time and enjoy finding out about your products or services without the pressure of having a salesman floating about in the background.

Website sales

Your website is one of the most impressive sales presentations that you will ever have. Allowing your customers to buy your products or services online is a wonderful and inexpensive way to expand your business. Spending thousands on advertising, for an ad that is featured in one mag, for one month simply doesn’t compare to investing in a long term sales marketing solution – or a well designed website as we like to call them!

Even if you do not offer a product or service that can easily be purchased over the Internet, a website still acts as an impressive first contact, convincing the potential customer that they need what you are offering and inviting them to contact you, via telephone, email or contact form on your website.

Websites promote future business

When a potential customer comes into your shop and leaves without making a purchase and without speaking to anyone, they are basically a dead prospect. When someone views your well designed website and doesn’t make a purchase straight away, they can easily revisit anytime to make the purchase in the future. On top of that, you can use your website to collect the email addresses of visitors and send them periodical promotional emails, newsletters or updates on your product or service. So although they may not buy first time around, you have more than one opportunity to close the sale!

So there you go, what are you waiting for?

Don’t waste time -get a well designed website now!

It’s been almost a week since the passing away of Steve Jobs (co-founder of Apple) who created the iPhone. Now you might be asking yourself why you’re reading about Steve Jobs on a web design company blog, allow me to explain.

Steve Jobs made the internet more personal, before the iPhone, the internet experience people had on their phones was Sub-Par to put it nicely. You literally had to be by a desktop to take full advantage of the internet (websites). The introduction of the iPhone changed all of that and has had such a impact on the wireless industry that it forced other cell phone makers to set-up their game so to speak.

As Web Developers, I believe we have a special job assigned to us. Small business owners put their trust in us to provide and develop a website that represents their businesses to possibly tens of thousands of potential customers, even millions, and to me that’s a big responsibility.

Think about this, there are Millions of people with iPhones walking around on a daily basis, they can access your website at any point of the day. Advertising with your website on it, handing out a business card and postcards are all ways you can use to draw people to your website. And that makes it more important than ever to have a professionally designed website that represents your business the right way.

I actually started this company because of my old iPhone. I had access to websites whenever I needed to look at a local company’s website and I got tired of looking at really bad websites. I am talking about websites with terrible menu functions and no personally at all, just bland basic websites that actually were hurting the image of the company. I didn’t even know if it was the same company’s website that I was looking at because the website was so bad.

The customer in this day and age has now changed and I credit a majority of that reason to the iPhone. Your customers are carrying around the internet in their pocket and possibly your website! I love meeting a client after we finish a project for them and showing them their website on a mobile device, its a great feeling to me. Its an excited time in the web design industry because of the iPhone and we are looking forward to seeing whats ahead.

Thank you Steve for the iPhone…

In todays market, traditional marketing and advertising strategies are not as effective as they used to be. Before, people who had products to sell were limited to television advertisements and distributing flyers to be able to let the market know that their product exists. Also, the high cost of advertising was a deterrent which limited the number of products that would successfully be marketed to the mass media.

The Internet became a big factor that helped changed the way products are being marketed. Since the Internet is readily available even to the common households, big companies and business people have since harnessed the potential to get a bigger market share through its users. The availability of website building tools has enabled even the small time business man to market his product and make it known to the rest of the world.

Marketing your Product through a Website

If you want to make your presence known to the Internet community, you would have to have a website first. You can either choose to highlight the company, the product itself or both! If you have employees that are knowledgeable in website design, then lucky for you because you need not pay extra. However, if you would want a professionally made website then it is suggested that you get a professional firm that specializes in website design.

Qualities of a Good Website Design

A good website design first and foremost should have the correct and relevant content in relation to the product or company that it showcases. Visitors to this website will not spend more than a minute if the content in the very first page of the website does not contain what they are looking for. Another indication that the website design is good if the navigation is easy to understand. The interface of the website should be user friendly wherein the user or the visitor will not get lost in the mumble jumble of pages that make the website.
A good website design will make or break the success of the website. Consider it as an investment when you hire a great website design firm to make your website
